Sensitivity notes
Why low fermentation food checker matters
SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) diets focus on reducing fermentable foods that feed bacteria in the small intestine. Low-fermentation foods help manage symptoms like bloating, gas, and abdominal discomfort.
- Low-fermentation eating reduces food for overgrown bacteria
- Meal spacing (4-5 hours) allows the MMC to clear the gut
- Avoid grazing - structured meals are better

Serving size, prep, and portion notes for hemp seed oil
Hemp seed oil is the cold-pressed, deep green, faintly grassy oil you get from hulled hemp seed, and once you know it is a food oil rather than a cannabinoid product its story becomes almost entirely a kitchen one. The trigger card is clean: A for histamine, histamine liberation, salicylates, oxalate, nickel, sulfites, glutamates, gluten, lactose and all five FODMAP subgroups. The interesting comparison is not against other oils but against the seed it came from. Hemp hearts are graded D for nickel, B for FODMAPs and B for histamine liberation, while the oil is A on all three, because pressing separates the fat from the protein, fibre and minerals that carry those loads. The trade-off is stability. This is one of the most heat-fragile oils in a normal kitchen, and treating it like a frying oil ruins both the flavour and the fat.
Watch for
Do not cook with it. Hemp seed oil is high in polyunsaturated fat, has a low smoke point, and turns bitter and acrid well before a pan gets to frying temperature. It belongs in dressings, dips, smoothies and drizzles, added off the heat / It goes rancid quickly. Buy small dark bottles, refrigerate after opening, and bin it if it smells like old paint or tastes sharply bitter at the back of the throat. Rancid oil is the most common reason someone logs nausea against a healthy-sounding oil / Much cleaner than the seed on two triggers people actually track: hemp hearts grade D for nickel and B for FODMAPs, the oil grades A for both, so it is a workable way to keep the hemp flavour on a low-nickel or low-FODMAP plan / Hemp seed oil, hemp protein powder and hemp milk are three separate products with three separate grade cards. The powder keeps the seed protein and fibre, so it does not inherit the oil's clean profile / Graded C on the anti-inflammatory scale, which is a diet-pattern score rather than a sensitivity trigger and reflects the oil being polyunsaturated and oxidation-prone
