Hemp protein is the least processed powder in the aisle, and that cuts both ways. It is milled from the seed cake left after pressing hemp oil, so unlike a true isolate it keeps the seed’s fibre and minerals. Watch for
- The fibre is the trigger story.A 30 g scoop is roughly double the hemp seed serve that tested low FODMAP, so a full shake can ferment in a sensitive gut. Starting at half a scoop is the practical fix.
- Moderate fermentation grade (C) for the same reason: on a SIBO or low fermentation protocol this is the least suitable of the major plant powders.
- High nickel (D).Seeds are a high nickel food group and pressing out the oil concentrates the minerals further.
- Mild salicylate (B) and moderate oxalate (C), both a step above the whole seed because of concentration.
