Serving size, prep, and portion notes for almond oil
Almond oil is one of the cleanest things you can put in a nut-heavy pantry. It grades A for histamine, salicylates, oxalate, gluten and every FODMAP subgroup, and the oxalate line is the one worth pausing on: whole almonds are one of the highest-oxalate foods we track at grade E, and none of that survives into the pressed fat, because oxalate stays behind in the press cake with the solids. The catch is the allergen question, and it runs the opposite way from the oil pages people usually read. Highly refined peanut, soybean and sesame oils have the allergenic protein stripped out during refining and are generally tolerated even by people allergic to the seed. Almond oil is mostly sold cold-pressed, as a gourmet finishing oil or a cosmetic carrier oil, and cold pressing is exactly the process that leaves protein in. If you are tree-nut allergic, the familiar refined-oil reassurance does not transfer here.
Watch for
Sold cold-pressed far more often than refined, so it can carry almond protein. The exemption that makes highly refined peanut or soybean oil safe for allergic people is about refining, not about oils in general, and a gourmet cold-pressed almond oil is the wrong side of that line / Carries no oxalate even though almonds grade E. Oxalate sits in the solids left in the press cake, so the oil is a way to keep almond flavor out of a kidney-stone or oxalate protocol / Graded a mild B for nickel, the only non-A trigger grade on the page. It matters only if you are managing systemic nickel allergy closely, and it is far below the D that whole almonds carry / Bitter almond oil is a different product from sweet almond oil. The oil pressed from bitter almonds naturally contains hydrocyanic acid and has to be rectified before it can be sold for food use, so check the label says sweet almond oil and is food grade rather than cosmetic grade
