Sensitivity notes

Why aip diet checker matters

The Paleo Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) is an elimination diet designed to reduce inflammation and heal the gut in people with autoimmune conditions. It removes grains, legumes, dairy, eggs, nuts, seeds, and nightshades during the elimination phase.

  • Elimination phase removes all potentially inflammatory foods
  • Focus on nutrient-dense foods: organ meats, bone broth, vegetables
  • Reintroduce foods one at a time after 30-90 days
  • Sleep, stress management, and movement are part of the protocol
  • Work with a practitioner experienced in autoimmune protocols

What to know about lassi

Lassi is yogurt blended with water and then either sweetened or salted, and the dilution is doing less for you than it looks. It grades D for lactose, only one notch below plain yogurt at E, and dairy proteins land at E, the top band. Culturing never removed much lactose in the first place and adding water simply spreads it across a bigger glass that most people then finish. FODMAPs sit at D and the SIBO grade is D, so the bloating people get from a big glass of lassi with a curry is real and not just the spice. Sweetened and mango versions add sugar on top, which is where the B for excess fructose comes from.

Watch for

  • Lactose D.Watering yogurt down moves it one step from E, not into safe territory, and a tall glass easily contains more yogurt than you would eat with a spoon
  • Dairy proteins E.Casein and whey are unchanged by culturing or dilution, so lassi is a full dairy exposure for anyone avoiding milk protein
  • FODMAP D and SIBO D.Drunk quickly alongside a large meal, this is a common cause of the bloated, gassy hour after Indian food
  • Histamine C and tyramine C, both moderate.Yogurt is a live culture, so a lassi made from an older tub sits at the higher end of that range
  • Sweet and mango lassi carry a lot of added sugar and fruit sugar, which shows up as excess fructose B and pushes the drink into the pro-inflammatory band at C
