Serving size, prep, and portion notes for honey mustard

Honey mustard is where a gentle condiment meets a high-FODMAP sweetener. Plain mustard is mild and low in FODMAPs, but the honey blended into it is high in excess fructose, which pushes the whole sauce into high-FODMAP territory and makes it a common IBS trigger. That is the sweet-condiment trap: the mustard is not the problem, the honey is. It also grades poorly for SIBO and leans pro-inflammatory from the added sugar.

Watch for

High FODMAP overall, driven by the honey, which is rich in excess fructose and a frequent IBS and bloating trigger / Poor for SIBO because the fermentable sugars feed bacterial overgrowth / Some prepared honey mustards carry moderate gluten, salicylates or sulfites depending on the vinegar and thickeners used, so check the label
