Brandy is a spirit distilled from wine, so it begins as fermented grapes and is then concentrated in the still and usually aged in oak. Distillation makes it gluten-free and removes most of the histamine that sat in the original wine, but the alcohol still counts: brandy is graded a strong histamine liberator, so flushing, a runny nose or a headache can follow a small glass.
